Help remember Lyla.

The main purpose at the Lyla Goode Foundation is to support the Pediatric Therapy Dog Program at Tampa General Hospital. During Lyla’s nine years of treatments, she found great comfort in the therapy dogs – Belle and Millie Valor. It is our hope to fund Belle and Millie in Lyla’s honor so that other patients can experience the same comfort and peace during their hospital stays. 

TGH Children’s Hospital currently employs two full-time pediatric facility dogs, who work with inpatients, pediatric trauma and rehabilitation patients, pediatric day hospital patients, and more. They are accompanied by Child Life Specialists who are trained to incorporate their services into patient visits. 

Belle and Millie's responsibilities include providing companionship and comfort during minor procedures and scans, increase feelings of security, well-being and comfort for patients after traumatic events like car accidents or family separation scenarios, support for patients and family at end-of life bereavement, non-pharmacological support for pain management and intervening in rehabilitation treatment in activities of daily living or achieving specific therapy goals and functional outcomes. 

Your gift will help support the ongoing care costs of Belle and Millie including: 

• Vet Bills
• Grooming 
• Ongoing training 
• Food and medication 

In addition to Belle and Millie, Lyla loved the toys in the Children's Hospital, which were provided through the TGH Operation Santa fundraising campaign.

About Operation Santa: There truly is no place like home for the holidays, but for the young patients of TGH Children’s Hospital, being home for the holidays simply isn’t an option. Instead of making wish lists, baking cookies, and celebrating the season, our patients and their families are making lists of questions for their doctors, eating in the hospital cafeteria, and wondering how Santa will find them amongst TGH’s winding halls.
