Tampa General Hospital Foundation officially launched a comprehensive fundraising campaign in October 2023: the Elevating Excellence Campaign to innovate tomorrow's TGH. With your help, we have the opportunity to create the hospital of the future today. Please consider making a gift to the Master Facility Plan fund for Giving Tuesday and help us push higher to make Tampa General Hospital the world-class destination medical center for you, your family, and our community.
Thanks to the generosity of Dr. Michael H. Albrink and Dr. Karen Wells, your gift will be matched dollar for dollar up to $20,000! Our goal is to raise an additional $20,000 from our TGH community- show your support early today!
If our $40,000 goal is reached, we will designate these funds to purchase a critical care physiological monitor. These top of the line Philips models cost $40,000 each and 24 are needed for the new Pavillion. These patient monitors are crucial to providing world-class care because they allow us to integrate with the patient “room of the future” and automatically chart stats like blood pressure, heart rate, and more.
“Our vision at Tampa General is to become the safest and most innovative academic health system in America,” said John Couris, president and CEO of Tampa General Hospital. “It is critical that we continue to bring the most advanced technology and cutting-edge care to our patients in Florida and beyond. This is the largest master facility plan expansion in our hospital’s history, and it is an investment in our patients, in our academic health system, and in our community. It’s a key part of our efforts to improve the lives and health of Floridians.”
The TGH master facility plan is a part of TGH's commitment to serve the Tampa Bay region's increasing health care needs through its role as the area’s leading safety net hospital. In 2020, the academic medical center provided 34 percent of health charity care costs in Hillsborough and 17 percent across the Tampa Bay area. For that same period, Tampa General provided a net community benefit worth more than $182.5 million in the form of health care for underinsured patients, community education and financial support to community health organizations in Tampa Bay.
The Master Facility Plan empowers TGH to improve patient care with a new Surgical, Neuroscience and Transplant Pavilion which will include:
The Surgical, Neuroscience and Transplant Pavilion is estimated to be completed in March 2027. The strategic Master Facility Plan also includes 11 additional projects, some of which have already been completed. The total estimated total economic impact of the Master Facility Plan will be over $967 million for the Tampa Bay region and will create more than 5,952 total jobs.
Thank you for considering an investment in tomorrow's TGH!
