Honor Lorenzo's legacy.

Our story:

Our identical twin boys, Louis James “LJ” and Lorenzo Christopher “Enzo”, made their very early arrival in to the world on March 25, 2023 at just 25 weeks. Our sweet Enzo gained his angel wings after fighting as hard as he could for 6 long days. While his time here physically on Earth was short, he lives on through all of us, most importantly his twin brother LJ.

March 31, 2023, Lou and I amongst a team of staff at TGH NICU, took Lorenzo outside for his first and last time. I remember it being the most beautiful sunny day, like the gates of Heaven were open just waiting for him. It was here that he passed peacefully in my arms.

A way to honor and remember Lorenzo:

Since losing Lorenzo, we have collaborated with the NICU at Tampa General Hospital on several smaller projects to help other families through their NICU journey while also honoring our son. With the one year angelversary rapidly approaching on March 31, Lou and I alongside the foundation at TGH, have outlined plans to permanently honor Lorenzo at TGH.

This outside garden is currently known as the “4K Garden.” It is the only way to get outside while on the 4th floor that houses not only the NICU, but Labor & Delivery and postpartum units. This space has the potential to be so serene and calming. A space not only for parents, like us, to send their babies to Heaven, but a space to decompress from the hospital whether you are a parent in the NICU or a healthcare professional on any of the neighboring units.

If you have been outside to this space, then you know it is quite gray and lacks character. Our hope is to add life to this space by updating the landscaping, but also by adding a few more fun additions to make it unique. We want this outside garden to be a place for everyone and anyone.

How you can help:

We have been overwhelmed by all the support that we have received over the last year since Lorenzo passed. We are so incredibly grateful for everyone who continues to check on us and support us every step of the way. Having the opportunity to restore this garden that means so much to us in honor of Lorenzo is so special. 100% of the money donated to restoring the garden will go towards the purchasing of supplies for the space and will be personally overseen by Lou and myself.

We appreciate everyone who has taken the time to read this, considers donating, and those who continue to help us keep our sweet Lorenzo Christopher’s name alive.

Thank you,

Louis and Arielle Cafiero
