THE CATHERINE M. CLAPP SCHOLARSHIP FUND

We, the Clapp Family, have established the Catherine M. Clapp Scholarship Fund to honor the memory of our Wife, Mother, Mother-inLaw, and Nana. This fund supports the team members of the Tampa General Hospital Transplant Institute in gratitude for the exceptional care, kindness, compassion, and respect they showed during Cathy’s long journey as a transplant patient.

Cathy was very special; a vibrant, caring woman who brought joy to everyone she met. As a military wife, she made friends wherever the family lived and touched many lives with her generosity and lively spirit. Cathy was always there to help, be it with a school play or the concession stand at her boys’ Little League baseball games. She loved children: her own sons, her grandchildren, and the children of her family & friends. It would take a book to recount the many ways she cared about and contributed to the happiness of others.

Despite living with Crohn’s disease followed by kidney failure, dialysis, and numerous trips to the clinic, Cathy always maintained her positive outlook. She greeted each and every person in the clinic with a big smile and a cheerful word or hello. The Transplant Institute team became family - every member, from reception to nursing, treated Cathy with warmth and dignity.

To thank the clinic staff for all you have done for Cathy, for the sincere kindness and friendliness you have shown, for the outstanding care you provided, and for being a special family for us, we have established the Catherine M. Clapp Scholarship Fund to help you all grow in your skills, knowledge, and careers. May other patients always receive the same outstanding level of care that you provided for Cathy. Thank you for being part of Cathy’s journey and for the love you shared with her.
