When Rayana first arrived at Tampa General Hospital’s Burn Center: A TECO Partnership, her world had been turned upside down. Three weeks before her 9th birthday, a devastating accident left Rayana with severe burns and a long road to recovery. But from the moment she was admitted, Rayana wasn’t just treated, she was embraced. Our team of compassionate specialists became her champions, helping her heal physically and emotionally, one step at a time.

Today, Rayana is thriving. She’s rediscovered her smile, her strength and her spirit. One of the biggest turning points in her journey was Camp Hopetáke, a free summer camp for pediatric burn survivors, hosted in partnership with Tampa Fire Rescue. At Camp Hopetáke, Rayana found friendship and laughter, the freedom to just be a kid again. Surrounded by others who understood her journey, she built confidence and created memories. Rayana felt truly seen.
