Support 20 Years of Palliative Care at TGH
The mission of the Palliative Care team at Tampa General Hospital is to provide compassionate, patient and family centered care for individuals facing serious illnesses. They strive to improve quality of life through expert symptom management, clear communication, and coordinated interdisciplinary support.
The Inpatient Palliative Care Team at TGH provides support to patients, families, and caregivers in the following ways:
- They help patients and families understand the extent of their illness, their treatment options, and what to expect in the future to reduce uncertainty and stress
- They assist with complex decision making and determining what is most important for our patients' treatment plan
- They provide relief from symptoms related to illnesses including cancer related pain, anxiety, and shortness of breath
- At times, the team also assists with transition to Hospice services and care for patients at the end of their life at Tampa General
This year marks 20 years of the Palliative Care team at TGH. We invite you to support, celebrate and honor the incredible care and compassion that the Palliative Care team provides to patients and families by making a gift to the Palliative Care fund during National Hospice & Palliative Care Month in November. Gifts to this fund allow the palliative care team to be leaders in hospital-based palliative care by delivering personalized support for patients and families. Your support will allow the TGH Palliative Care team to ensure every individual can receive holistic care that respects their values and goals, with seamless collaboration among care teams to relieve suffering and uphold dignity during a serious illness.
