In East Tampa, thousands of women rely on the TGH Genesis Women’s Health Center for affordable prenatal care, ultrasounds, gynecological services and support through high‑risk pregnancies. For decades, this clinic has been a lifeline in a community where access to quality women’s health care is limited.

Now, we have the chance to transform it.

Staffed by USF Health OBGYN providers — part of the top-ranked maternity practice in Florida — the Genesis Women’s Health Center is a cornerstone of health care for all women in this underserved community.  It also provides menopausal health care and gynecological surgeries.  

Your contribution directly supports women and families across East Tampa. With your help, we can create a space where every woman feels valued and supported, ensuring they have the resources they need to thrive.  

Fast Facts: Maternal Mental Health 

-80%: According to the CDC, that's how many pregnancy‑related deaths are preventable, with early prenatal care as a key preventive strategy. 

-30%: How much antenatal care can reduce maternal mortality, underscoring its critical role in preventing life‑threatening complications. 

-34%: How many live births in in Florida involved no - or inadequate - prenatal care, meaning care began after the first four months of pregnancy or no prenatal care was received before delivery. 

The renovation will cost $3.8 million and will be funded fully through philanthropy. TGH Foundation Board member Taylor West and her husband, Stephen West, made an incredibly generous gift to spearhead this much needed renovation. Here is why they are supporting this important project: 

Taylor West started researching post-partum recovery after having her first child and was alarmed by what she discovered: “An unacceptable number of women are still dying in childbirth,” she said. Taylor and Stephen West, who now have three children, were inspired to help. “TGH speaks to us because it’s the only safety net hospital in the area and the Women’s & Children’s program is exceptional.”
