We are deeply saddened by the passing of Dr. Thomas Bernasek, whose extraordinary legacy at Tampa General Hospital spans decades of leadership, innovation, service and compassionate patient care. A nationally respected orthopaedic surgeon, founding member of Florida Orthopaedic Institute, former TGH Chief of Staff and Board member and dedicated educator, Dr. Bernasek devoted his life to advancing medicine and improving the lives of countless patients and families throughout our region and beyond.

Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Bernasek was a trusted physician, visionary leader and mentor whose commitment to excellence helped shape the future of healthcare in Tampa Bay. His contributions to clinical care, medical research and physician education left an incredible mark on Tampa General Hospital, inspiring generations of healthcare professionals to follow in his footsteps. Beyond his professional achievements, he was known for his generosity, integrity and unwavering dedication to serving others.

Dr. Bernasek's influence extends far beyond the operating room and hospital walls. His leadership and compassion strengthened our organization, enriched our community and touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him. We extend our deepest condolences to his family, loved ones, colleagues, patients and the many individuals whose lives were forever changed by his care and guidance.
